Info: |
Here's some info on green day's rarest record. Released on Skene! in 1990 (not 1987).
Lawrence Livermore about the Sweet Children Ep::
"The first thing they recorded was the 1,000 Hours EP. They
were still called Sweet Children when they recorded it (early 1989) but changed
their name to Green Day before it came out (April 1989). The first album,
39/Smooth (1,039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours in CD and cassette form) was also
recorded before the Sweet Children EP (recorded summer of 1990) and before Tre
joined. Tre was still in the Lookouts until the summer of 1990, and joined
Green Day in November of 1990."
This EP was recorded on their first tour. In Minneapolis. It's Green Day playing Sweet Children songs and because it was all cheap and fast done, it sounds crappy. Unlike several websites claiming it was released in 1987, it was released in 1990.
Record details:
Title: Green Day EP, Sweet Children EP
Year of release: 1990
Pressings: 4
Vinyl color: black, pink, red.
Songs: Sweet Children
Best thing in town
Strangeland
My generation (Who cover)
Above: First pressing. First released on pink vinyl, then on black. No insert. 1500 were pressed, but I'm not sure if that's both pink and black vinyl.
Above: Second pressing. Has an insert. Only released on black vinyl.
Above: also second pressing. So says the back sleeve. Only this one is red. Some have inserts, some haven't. I'm not sure if this one was pressed before or after the one with the white sleeve. It's also possible that there are 300 of both, since the back says 'pressing of 600'. This is the only one I don't have, so if you have it and you have more info, please e-mail me.
Above: fourth pressing. The back says: fourth pressing, third cover. Was only pressed on clear red vinyl. According to some guy, 500 were pressed. And since the text on the back says that the songs are also on the Kerplunk cd (not the vinyl record that came out earlier), this must be pressed somewhere in 1991.
Pressing info:
First pressing (Mike's foot): Pressing of 1500, on black and pink vinyl.
Second pressing (Bug): Pressing of 600, on black vinyl, with insert.
Third pressing (Bug, Red jacket): Pressing of ??, on black vinyl.
Fourth pressing (White sleeve with picture): Pressing of 500 (not sure), on red vinyl only.
There is also a bootleg of this EP, more info here.
