39/Smooth is green day's first full lenght album. Released in 1990 by Lookout records, this 10 track record was only released on vinyl and cassette. It has been released on black and green vinyl and has been in print untill 2005 and was then taken off the Lookout catalogue by Green day. On March 24 2009, it was reissued on vinyl, this time on Reprise records (reissue includes first 2 EP's 1,000 Hours and Slappy). Initialy this was also released on cassette, but even though the LP was still printed as 39/smooth, the cassette went out of print when in 1991 1,039/smoothed out slappy hours was put out. This CD and CASSETTE compilation album contains the 39/smooth LP, slappy EP, 1,000 hours EP and 'I want to be alone' from 'The big one' compilation LP.

Pressing info/ Differences: First pressing of the LP was on black vinyl. Pressings of the early Lookout releases weren't large amounts of copies and another early pressing was on green vinyl. Only 800 on green vinyl exist. The old pressings of this LP have the old Lookout 'Laytonville' adress on the back. Since the moving of Lookout records to Berekeley in 1992, pressings have had the new adress on the back.
Another difference between early pressings and newer pressings is the insert. Other than lyrics it contains 3 letters, first is from a record label called I.R.S. offering Green day a contract. The other 2 letters are replies, from the band, and from Larry Livermore. Early pressings have the name of the record label displayed while on later pressings this information was removed.
